The Alpha SP 220 is recommended for the lubrication of industrial gear boxes using forced circulation or splash and oil bath lubrication. They may be used for the lubrication of spur and helical gears and in some lightly loaded worm type gear applications. They have very good viscosity characteristics to ensure starting torques are not excessively high in cold operating conditions. The castrol Alpha SP 220 additives are compatible with the ferrous and non-ferrous metals used in industrial gear units. The Alpha SP 220 is compatible with the most common types of seal materials.

The Alphasyn PG range of gear oils are primarily intended for use in worm reduction gearboxes where the low coefficient of friction of the PAG base fluid improves efficiency and consequently reduces power consumption and operating temperatures. The use of a PAG basestock provides inherently high viscosity index (VI) and low pour points making these products suitable for use over a wide temperature range. The Alphasyn T range has been formulated for use in most types of light to medium duty enclosed gear systems but should not be used for heavy or shock loaded systems. Alphasyn T is also suitable for bearings and circulatory systems operating at high temperatures. Alphasyn T is suitable for various applications where a lubricating oil is used under high temperatures, e.g. from hydraulic systems through to large, slow moving gears. All products in the Alphasyn T range have very low pour points and excellent viscosity and temperature characteristics, allowing their use in both low and high temperature applications. The Alphasyn T range is fully compatible with nitrile, silicone and fluropolymer seal materials.
