The Alpha SP 460 is recommended for the lubrication of industrial gear boxes using forced circulation or splash and oil bath lubrication. Castrol Alpha SP 460 may be used for the lubrication of spur and helical gears and in some lightly loaded worm type gear applications. They have very good viscosity characteristics to ensure starting torques are not excessively high in cold operating conditions.

The additives in Alpha SP 460 are compatible with the ferrous and non-ferrous metals used in industrial gear units. The Alpha SP 460 is compatible with the most common types of seal materials.

Alpha SP 460 is classified as follows: DIN Classification is CLP 460.

The Castrol Spheerol EPL 3 comprises general purpose greases designed for plant wide lubrication. The range extends from a Castrol Spheerol EPL 3 for general purpose bearing lubrication to a NLGI 00 (see separate data sheet) semi-fluid grease suitable for centralised lubrication systems and grease filled gearboxes.

Castrol Spheerol EPL 3 greases provide good protection against rust and corrosion as well as resistance to water wash-out; which makes them particularly suitable for equipment where moist or wet conditions are common. The stiffer consistency afforded by a Castrol Spheerol EPL 3 grade makes this product particularly suitable for the lubrication of bearings that are vertically mounted, or components exposed to a high degree of vibration. The good levels of resistance to both corrosion and water wash-out, which makes this product suitable for equipment where moist or wet conditions are common.

Spheerol AP 2 and AP 3 are primarily intended for use in plain and anti-friction , ball and roller bearings besides other machinery applications. They are recommended for use under normal load conditions, within an operating temperature range of -20°C to +120°C. Due to the low viscosity used in these products, they are particularly suitable for high speed bearings. Spheerol AP 3 is suitable for severe vibaration conditions.

High Performance Bearing Greases

Application CASTROL Tribol GR 100-00 PD

The Tribol GR 100 PD Range can be used for long term lubrication even under the most difficult operating conditions such as extreme pressure, vibrations, shock loads and a wide temperature range (-35°C to 140°C / -31°F to 284°F) in highly loaded rolling and sliding bearings. Typical applications include bearings of spinning and grinding spindles, gear motors exposed to shock loads, screening / wood shaping machines and bearing surfaces of printing plates. These greases are also suitable for bearings with a rotating outer ring and undergoing high stresses due to centrifugal load. Examples are spreader rolls, roll neck bearings in steel mills, and bearings with changing rotational directions or slewing movements. They are also used in curved teeth couplings and centralised lubricating systems. Tribol GR 100-0 PD and 100-00 PD can be used as semi-fluid grease lubricants in gears such as flange, drum-type and worm gears. Application CASTROL BioTac MP

BioTac MPTM has been developed primarily for use on exposed marine deck applications and combines excellent physical properties that enable resistance to both mechanical shear and water spray-off with an additive system developed to protect exposed components from corrosion, oxidation and the effects of load, friction and wear. BioTac MPTM is intended for use in a wide range of applications including plain bearings, wire ropes and open gears typically found in marine mooring and cargo winches. Furthermore, ramp door bearings, pedestal bearings and cargo hatch rollers are also examples of slow/medium speed marine deck applications for which BioTac MPTM is ideally suited. The combination of thickener and base oil technology enables BioTac MPTM to have a broad operating temperature range of between -35C and +125C.
