What does DIN HLP actually mean?
"HLP" refers to the code numbers of hydraulic fluids specified in the renowned standard DIN 51524-2. These oils are specially formulated with additives for aging and corrosion resistance, as well as friction and wear reduction.

What is the difference between HLP 32 and HLP 46?
The difference lies in viscosity, not quality! HLP 46 is the most commonly used oil in the HLP family. With an ISO VG value of 46, which corresponds to a viscosity of 46 mm²/s at 40°C, this oil offers excellent performance. In comparison, HLP 32 has a lower viscosity of 32 mm²/s at the same temperature. Therefore, a DIN HLP 32 is thinner than a DIN HLP 46, which may be relevant for your specific application.
What viscosity of hydraulic oil do you actually need?
That is a crucial question. The viscosity of the oil depends on the pump in your hydraulic system. Therefore, consult the machine manual to determine the prescribed viscosity.
