Shell Naturelle S2 HF 15 previously Shell Naturelle HF-E 15

Fully synthetic, environmentally friendly biodegradable hydraulic oil

Main uses of Shell Naturelle HF-E 15 are:

  • + Mobile /hydraulic applications outside
  • + General industrial control systems and hydraulics
  • + Ecologically sensitive areas, with Ecolabel

Shell Naturelle HF-E 15 is an advanced hydraulic fluid, both biodegradable and low-flammable type HFDU for use in hydraulic systems and hydraulic power transmissions. Shell Naturelle HF-E 15 has a high degree of biodegradability and is particularly suitable for use in ecologically sensitive and industrial areas such as steel plants, mines and foundries. The composition of biodegradable synthetic esters and ashless additives ensures that Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 15 has excellent lubricity and is environmentally friendly.

Shell Naturelle HF-E 15 applications are:

Mobile /hydraulic applications outside

Hydraulic systems and hydraulic power transmissions in sensitive ecological environments can be subject to strong temperature variations. Due to the natural very high viscosity index (VI), Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 15 has an optimal viscosity at low start-up temperatures as well as under very heavy (fully loaded) load conditions.

General industrial control systems and hydraulics

The excellent anti-wear properties and high viscosity index (VI) of Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 15, means that it can often be used where ISO 11158 (HM /HV) and DIN 51524 Part 2 or Part 3 (HLP /HVLP) mineral hydraulic oils are prescribed. For optimum service life of the hydraulic oil, the operating temperature of the oil should not exceed 90 C.

Ecologically sensitive areas

Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 15 is an 'eco-friendly hydraulic fluid (ISO 15380 HEES), with 'reduced soil and water damage during use' (European Ecolabel). Compared with conventional mineral hydraulic oils, it has a reduced ecological impact in the event of leaks or sudden oil loss due to an accident and meets the requirements of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's EPA 2013 Vessel General Permit (EPA). VGP) for use in marine applications.

Shell Naturelle HF-E 15 Performance, Features & Advantages:

  • + Excellent protection against wear
  • + Preservation of system efficiency
  • + Biodegradable and low toxic impact on the environment
  • + High content of renewable components

Compatibility and Miscibility

Compatibility with oils

Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 15 can be mixed with mineral hydraulic oils. However, to indicate that the biodegradable properties and proper functioning are maintained when men switch to a different fluid, it is necessary that the hydraulic systems are properly drained and flushed.
Guidelines for an oil change can be found in ISO 15380 Appendix A. Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 15 can cause old deposits to come loose during use, especially if the system previously operated on mineral hydraulic oil. It is therefore important to check the filters on a comparable basis after the transition to Shell Naturelle HF-E 15.

Compatibility of seals and coatings

Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 15 is compatible with hydronated nitrille (HNBR) and with fluoro sealing materials (FPM / FKM) such as Viton®. Depending on the elastomer degree, it is also compatible with polyester urethane (AU) elastomers.
Other sealing materials and components such as paint, on the other hand, can be affected and we therefore recommend that you consult the respective constructors.

Explanation Performance, Features & amp; Benefits of Shell Naturelle HF-E 15

+ Excellent protection against wear

Advanced shaftless (anti-wear) anti-wear additives provide protection over a wide range of temperatures, proven in stringent industrial tests such as the Eaton Vickers 35VQ25 vane pump industry standard testing and the Komatsu HPV35 +35 high-pressure piston pump.

+ Preservation of system efficiency &

The excellent viscosity /temperature properties can minimize the fluctuation of viscosity at varying operating temperatures and thus give real 'multigrade' properties to the product. Superior cleanliness and filterability, together with excellent water separation, air separation and anti-foam properties contribute to or enhance the hydraulic system efficiency. The filterability of Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 15 is maintained even in the presence of water.

+ Biodegradable and low toxic impact on the environment

Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E is biodegradable with more than 60% after 28 days in the OECD 301 B carbon dioxide degradability test. Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E is classified as "harmless" to bacteria, algae, freshwater and marine invertebrates and fish when tested as water-accommodated fractions (WAFs) according to the OECD and EPA test guidelines.

+ High content of renewable components

+ Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E has on average a bio-based content of more than 80% (ASTM D6866).
